Rainy days...
Hello! I hope you’re all having a FANTASTIC spring and enjoying the sunshine we’ve been having (although today it is pouring with rain!)
I love the sunshine. I think its great that when the sun is shining, people just seem...happier. They have smiles on their faces and a spring in their step. The world seems so much bigger when it is sunny.
But what about rainy days? How do you feel when the sun isn’t shining and it’s a bit grey? How do you feel when it is pouring with rain? I was walking to the bus stop this morning and got caught in a massive downpour and I got totally soaked (top tip...never buy an umbrella from the pound shop!) I had to dry out my socks on the radiator at the office! Or how about that horrible misty sort of rain which makes your hair all frizzy? That sort of rain tends to stick around all day.
Sometimes we may feel like our lives are like a sunny day. We can run around outside with our friends and go to the park and eat ice cream and go to the beach and it just feels good. Like all is right with the world. If you feel like that right now, great! God loves it when we feel like that. I think it makes him happy to see us smile.
Unfortunately though, life isn’t always like that. Sometimes it can feel like a raging storm is going on around us and we can’t avoid it. You might have stuff going on in your life right now which is really hard to deal with. It might feel like the rain is pouring down and you’re getting soaked. If you do feel like that, I think it would be great if you talked to someone about it. It can really help. And God always wants us to talk to him, whether we’re happy or sad.
Maybe you don’t feel the sun is either shining in your life, or a storm is going on. You just might feel like your skies are a little grey and drizzly. That can be really hard too. You might be a bit fed up or bored with life. God wants you to talk to him about that too. He cares how we feel all the time.
I’ve been through sunny , stormy and drizzly times and the one thing I’ve learnt is that God is there through all of it. He loves us all soooooo much and knowing that gives me joy even when times are hard. Life isn’t always easy or happy, but God and his love stay the same at all times...amazing and huge. You can always rely on it. It says in the bible ‘Lord, you have been our home since the beginning. Before the mountains were born and before you created the earth and the world, you are God. You have always been and you always will be’. Psalm 90:1-2
